Homecoming
Omatee Ann Marie Hansraj
Trinidad and Tobago
Coming home after endless years,
Time dissolves, yet reappears.
Familiar streets, once worn by feet,
Whisper stories bittersweet.
Walls remember laughter’s song,
Echoes where we once belonged.
The mango tree, old yet bold,
Still guards secrets never told.
Faces greet with joy anew,
But shadows linger in their view.
Memories blend with present day,
As time rewinds and fades away.
Coming home, a sacred quest,
A heart once restless, now at rest.

The Beauty of Less
With age, wisdom softly blooms,
Life’s lessons etched in quiet rooms.
Each moment, a patient guide,
Teaching truths we can't deny.
Complex paths once held allure,
Now simplicity feels more pure.
Chaos fades when we release
The need for noise, the thirst for ease.
Toxic spaces lose their hold,
As hearts seek warmth, not bitter cold.
Stress dissolves like morning mist,
When joy and peace exist.
Less is more—a timeless truth,
Not measured by fleeting youth,
But by love, sincere and bright,
And souls aligned with God's pure light.

Her Return
She walked in alone,
a shadow of strength wrapped in silence,
bearing the weight of whispers unseen
the past lingering like smoke in the air.
Eyes pierced her skin,
curious, cold, judgmental,
etching questions they dared not ask aloud:
Who is she? Why is she here?
They spoke of her,
not knowing it was she standing there.
She was eye-catching,
no eyes could miss her beauty,
the sophistication woven seamlessly
with simplicity and grace.
Her humble ways shimmered quietly,
yet the energy of her presence
lit up the room like dawn breaking.
They gossiped,
voices laced with venom,
forgetting truth has a way
of slipping through cracks.
How quick they were to cast stones
at what they didn’t understand.
Then she stood face to face
with an aunt who remembered
joy unveiled itself like dawn breaking.
Their laughter shattered the hush,
turning suspicion into shame.
One by one, they lowered their eyes,
their words folding in on themselves.
This was the woman
they washed their mouths with,
the one they abandoned,
dismissed as "never enough."
But here she was,
more than they had dreamed,
more than their limited minds imagined.
She had climbed mountains alone,
built empires from ashes,
and still, her heart remained soft,
untouched by bitterness.
They bowed their heads,
not in reverence, but in regret,
for their words had betrayed them,
and now truth stood unshaken before them.
Her journey was never about revenge,
but triumph
the quiet, sacred kind
that blooms within the soul.
And as they watched her walk on,
humble yet fierce,
they learned this truth:
No fire born of judgment
can consume a spirit that refuses to break.

Ephemeral Journey
We are all here for a time,
Some paths brief, some climb sublime.
Each step a story, each breath a gift,
Moments we cherish, memories swift.
Time moves like shadows across the land,
Slipping like grains from an open hand.
We laugh, we love, we rise, we fall,
The echoes linger but life stands tall.
Appreciate each fleeting day,
While heartbeats dance and voices stay.
For every dawn, though bright and clear,
Holds whispers of what we hold dear.
So take the time to see, to feel,
To heal, to cherish, to make life real.
As many we've known have come and gone,
Their light extinguished but never withdrawn.
Let love and kindness mark your way,
A legacy left when time can't stay.
For while we walk this mortal shore,
Life calls us home forevermore.

When Love Changes
Love unites, but life divides,
It pulls close, then shifts tides.
Two hearts together, a perfect dance,
Yet life’s sharp edges break the trance.
Love, so pure, can twist to hate,
A fragile bond, sealed by fate.
What once was warmth, now feels so cold,
A fiery passion turns bitter and old.
Anger brews where love once grew,
The cracks reveal a harsher view.
Yet in the ashes, embers gleam,
A spark remains—a fragile dream.
For love may bend, and life may strain,
But its essence fights through the pain.
When love changes, let it endure,
A heart’s true strength lies in the pure.

The Timeless Glow
The beauty of a woman, a gentle flame,
Not bound by fashion, nor tethered to fame.
It’s not in the garments draped with care,
Nor the polished curls of silken hair.
Her beauty dwells in a deeper space,
In the tender light upon her face.
The eyes, a window to love’s embrace,
A gateway to her heart’s true place.
It’s in her soul where treasures shine,
A gift of grace, both rare and divine.
Her caring touch, her passions free,
Reflect the depths of her purity.
With every year, her glow ascends,
A timeless charm that never ends.
For beauty grows with wisdom’s trace,
A radiant soul, a life of grace.

Veil of Sorrow
The heart bleeds,
It bleeds its soul,
A grief so vast,
No end, no goal.
Burdens carried,
Pain within,
A smile conceals
What lies therein.
Silent cries,
A muted hymn,
The weight of loss
Lurks deep and grim.
Yet through the cracks,
A light will gleam,
For even sorrow
Dreams a dream.

Divorce and Death
Two paths diverge in the realm of loss,
Both etched with sorrow, both bearing cost.
One ends a union, the other a life,
Both carve deep wounds, both wield the knife.
Divorce, a rupture, a love undone,
A battle where no victor’s won.
The echoes of vows, now broken, fade,
While hearts bear scars from words mislaid.
Freedom calls, but at what price?
The weight of choices, a soul’s sacrifice.
To part while breathing, yet still alone,
To sever ties, rebuild the known.
A widow or widower, left to grieve,
The heart holds memories it cannot leave.
The love remains, though the form is gone,
A shadow that lingers, dusk till dawn.
No court’s decree, no bitter fight,
Just silent tears in the dead of night.
A chapter closed by time’s cruel hand,
Life’s fragile thread, hard to withstand.
Both bear burdens heavy and true,
Yet each loss writes its own hue.
One offers freedom, the other regret,
Both leave trails we can’t forget.
So whether by law or fate’s decree,
Loss reshapes what we thought we’d be.
For in the end, love’s tender flame,
Burns on in sorrow, just the same.

The Givers and the Takers
In our lifetime, paths will cross,
With givers of gold, and takers of dross.
Some build us up, their warmth aglow,
While others strip, leave shadows below.
The users come, with cunning disguise,
A glint of need masked in their eyes.
They borrow trust, but give no return,
Lessons etched in hearts that burn.
Then there are losses, silent and deep,
Carving our souls while we silently weep.
Yet in their wake, we rise anew,
Stronger, braver, clearer of view.
For every soul that fades away,
A giver comes to light our way.
Through shadows and light, we learn to see,
The balance of life’s duality.

Lessons in Haste
Sometimes in haste,
We choose our path,
A step too quick,
A shadowed aftermath.
Sometimes it works,
Like a serendipitous chance,
Other times it falters,
A misstep in the dance.
Yet every stumble,
Every twist and turn,
Leaves behind a gift,
A lesson to learn.
For knowledge blooms
From the seeds of pain,
And wisdom grows
Where experience is gained.
So haste may mislead,
But do not despair,
Each choice you make
Leads you somewhere.

Dare to Live
Live with no regrets,
Let courage rise as fear forgets.
Each fleeting moment, bold, pursue,
For life is brief and dreams are true.
Challenge yourself to take the leap,
Awaken passions buried deep.
Risk the fall, embrace the climb,
Savor every fleeting time.
You only live this life but once,
A fleeting spark, a brilliant dance.
So chase the stars, let spirits soar,
Regret will knock—don’t mind the door.
For when the dusk of life appears,
You'll smile through joy and conquered fears.
No what-ifs left to cloud your soul,
Just the triumph of a life made whole.

When Love Alone Won't Do
Do not wed for love’s sweet glow,
For passion’s flame can flicker low.
Marry when your heart is wise,
And you see the world through steady eyes.
Emotions bloom, then fade away,
But wisdom roots and learns to stay.
A union built on fleeting fire
Won’t withstand life’s rough quagmire.
Choose the path of thoughtful care,
Financial strength and truths laid bare.
For love alone cannot sustain
A marriage forged in joy and pain.
So wait, prepare, and stand secure,
Build a bond that will endure.
Love, though bright, is but a part—
Strength and growth must join the heart.

When Hearts Unite
A beautiful moment to see,
When two or more in harmony be,
Gathered in His holy name,
Sharing prayers, a common flame.
Together they stand, hands entwined,
Strengthened in spirit, heart, and mind.
Supporting each other through joy or pain,
Their union never forged in vain.
Creating news that uplifts the soul,
Building each other, making whole.
No room for words that tear apart,
Only love flows from heart to heart.
Oh, what a vision, pure and true,
When faith and fellowship renew.
A glimpse of heaven, a divine embrace,
Where peace and kindness find their place.

The Veil of Truth
They look, they speak,
Their words cut deep.
They ill-speak with fleeting grace,
Masks of doubt upon their face.
They observe, they pry,
Question truth until it’s a lie.
They whisper lies until they bloom,
Turning shadows into room.
But time, a patient hand,
Clears the dust from every strand.
For truth, though buried, will unfold,
Its light more radiant, brave, and bold.
Nothing hides forever,
Not deceit nor clever endeavor.
The veil shall fall, the world will see—
The truth unveiled, eternally free.

Reflections in Shadows
They judge you by what you wear,
The words you speak, the way you care.
By how you look, where you stray,
In every choice, they find dismay.
They search for flaws, they scrutinize,
Yet fail to see through their own eyes.
For in their gaze, a truth may gleam—
A mirrored self in every beam.
Do they condemn what they despise,
Or fear the truths they can't disguise?
The faults they see in you, so clear,
Are shadows of what they hold near.
