Cherished Too Late

When the person isn't there anymore,
We miss them.
We wish we could see them again,
Just one more time,
If only we could.

When they are here,
We take them for granted,
We think they will always stay,
But reality is different.
We are all here only for a time.

So love them now,
Hold them close,
Speak the words your heart longs to say.
For tomorrow is never promised,
And regret is a heavy weight to bear.
